How are NYC Marathon corrals assigned?

Corral Assignments and Bag Check Your corral assignment is based on your best pace as calculated by NYRR, and each corral has a minimum best pace, called a pace cut. Your removable bag check tag corresponds to your race number; it does not reflect your corral assignment.

Does the NYC Marathon have a time limit?

COURSE TIME LIMIT: In the interest of safety, and to allow streets and park drives to reopen as scheduled, the race course will remain open to all participants who are able to maintain a 13:45 per-mile pace (based on the time when the last runner crosses the start line).

Is NYC Marathon flat?

Even though New York sits on the coast, the route isn’t by any means flat. Thanks to the long, grinding inclines up bridges and the hills on Fifth Avenue, the race will test your strength and stamina. Luckily, you’ll have roaring crowds to encourage you every step of the way.

How many miles is the New York City Marathon?

The TCS New York City Marathon course runs 26.2 miles through the five boroughs of NYC. Mile markers and clocks are posted at every mile. Before mile 8, clocks marked with color-coded signs correspond to your start corral color. From mile 8 onward, all mile markers are blue.

The staging area is at Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island. Only registered entrants and guides are allowed in Fort Wadsworth and the start area.
