Is the Agnsw open?

What’s open and what’s closed There is currently no public access to the Grand Courts while the galleries are being refurbished. They will reopen in late 2021. Our research library and archive is relocating to a new purpose-built, expanded facility within the building.

How do I get to the Art Gallery of NSW?

Bus 441 – Departs from the York Street side of Queen Victoria Building and drops off near the Gallery. Train – St James and Martin Place stations are both about 10 minutes walk. Courtesy bus – On nights when the Gallery is open, a courtesy bus departs from the Gallery entrance every 15 minutes from 7pm until closing.

Who can enter the Wynne Prize?

Eligibility. The artist must have been resident in Australia for the eligibility period: see Key Dates above. In any year, the artist may enter one work only. This does not prevent the artist entering other works in other competitions such as the Sulman or Archibald Prizes.

The Art Gallery of New South Wales began without a collection and without a building on 24 April 1871 when a group of 30 art-loving citizens established a society to support artists and promote knowledge and enjoyment of art in the wider community.
