The newer machines, the Cricut Explore series and the Cricut Maker, can absolutely still use any cartridges you have purchased from Cricut. However, first you have to link them to your Cricut account, so you can access them online through Cricut Design Space.
Are all Cricut cartridges universal?
Answer: All cartridges launched after August 1, 2013 will be compatible with the universal overlay. All of these new cartridges will not be packaged with an overlay in the box. Instead you will need to purchase the NEW Universal Overlay (once) and it will be used with all of the new cartridges.
Can I use old Cricut cartridges with Explore air 2?
The good news is that you absolutely can use your library of cartridges with your Cricut Explore Air 2 (or other Cricut Explore family machines) by using the slot on the machine to “link” them to Cricut Design Space.
Can you link old Cricut cartridges?
Important: Cartridges can be linked only once, and cannot be unlinked. If your cartridge is a pre-owned one, we cannot guarantee that it can be linked to your account. You can still use those cartridges with stand-alone machines like Expression, Personal, etc.
Can all Cricut cartridges be linked?
You can not link cartridges to your Cricut machines (Expression, etc), you can only link them to the Gypsy, Cricut Craftroom, and the new Design Space. And the good news is, ALL of your cartridges can be linked to ALL 3 of the those.
